Online survey – ‘Electric Mobility’ by 2030

‘Electric Mobility’ by 2030  – India has set its foot on the path to ‘Electric Mobility’ by 2030 and there have been many initiatives taken by the central and the state governments to promote Electric Vehicles. Like Maharashtra Government, Gujrat Government etc..

In line with the Government of India’s vision of achieving 100 percent e-mobility by 2030, National E-Mobility Program has been launched in the country. The program is aimed at providing impetus to the entire e-mobility ecosystem, including the vehicle manufacturers, charging infrastructure companies, fleet operators, and service providers.

This transition to ‘Electric Mobility’ will significantly be driven by YOU as a private vehicle owner. Your perceptions, beliefs and vehicle choices will play a significant role in aiding the future decisions that India takes towards this venture.
In the light of this, as a part of her masters research, Harsimran (an M.Tech student from TERI currently interning with Shakti Foundation) invites you to participate in this online survey – Click Here for Online Survey
The data collected would provide useful information on the Electric Vehicle (EV) debate in our country today, and help inform future efforts in this field.  All responses, including any personal information you provide, will be kept strictly confidential.

National Power Portal – A centralised platform for all the information related to power sector.

National Power Portal: a centralised platform for collation & dissemination of all the information related to power sector for the convenience of DISCOMS as well as the citizens of the country .

Shri R.K. Singh, Minister of State (IC) for Power and New & Renewable Energy, launched the National Power Portal (NPP)here today. The portal may be accessed at

NPP is a centralised system for Indian Power Sector which facilitates online data capture/ input (daily, monthly, annually) from generation, transmission and distribution utilities in the country and disseminate Power Sector Information (operational, capacity, demand, supply, consumption etc.) through various analysed reports, graphs, statistics for generation, transmission and distribution at all India, region, state level for central, state and private sector.

The NPP Dashboard has been designed and developed to disseminate analyzed information about the sector through GIS enabled navigation and visualization chart windows on capacity, generation, transmission, distribution at national, state, DISCOM, town, feeder level and scheme based funding to states. The system also facilitates various types of statutory reports required to be published regularly. The Dashboard would also act as the single point interface for all Power Sector Apps launched previously by the Ministry, like TARANG, UJALA, VIDYUT PRAVAH, GARV, URJA, MERIT.

NPP is integrated with associated systems of Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Power Finance Corporation (PFC), Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) and other major utilities and would serve as single authentic source of power sector information to apex bodies, utilities for the purpose of analysis, planning, monitoring as well as for public users. The system is available 24×7 and ensures effective and timely collection of data. It standardized data parameters and formats for seamless exchange of data between NPP and respective systems at utilities.

The stakeholders of NPP are Ministry of Power (MoP), CEA, PFC for Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS), REC for Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY), other power sector utilities in government as well as private sector, Apex Bodies, other government organizations and public users. The Nodal Agency for implementation of NPP and its operational control is CEA. The system has been conceptualized, designed and developed by National Informatics Centre (NIC).

The Institute & organization, transforming the technical skill, via skill development program to achieve target of 100GW solar power by 2022.

The Institute & organization, Transforming the technical & Non technical skill, via skill development program to achieve target of 100GW solar power by 2022.

A solar power is the fastest growing renewable energy source in India.. As per the Bridge to India report, the total utility scale solar capacity as of Augest 31,2016 is 8,118 MW.

As we know Government of India & MNRE has strong commitment towards renewable (solar) energy development, the target is to achieve 100GW solar power upto 2022.. To achieve this target they announced different policies to different categories…

Let’s if we summarised above statistics, it’s indicate that there is requirements of huge skill employees within short period of time.

I think still……, 1 of the key barriers to achieve this target is “LACK OF AWARENESS” of technology as well as technical skill based manpower OR Market based Technical skill development programs framwork..

To bridge the skill gap, Government & Institutions started Skill based Development programs depends on qualification packs & standards..

There is 4 main skill qualification framwork level.

  1. Activities performance (Installation)
  2. Activities supervision.
  3. Activities controller.
  4. Activities Management.

If we focused on above activities, it’s shows that solar power industry required different skill, Not only technical but also non technical..

Here i would like to introduced few institutions & organization list for skill based trainings.

  1. National skill development Corporation.
  2. The Energy and resource Institute. (TERI) –
  3. National Institute of solar energy. (NISE) –
  4. Gujarat energy research and management Institute. (GERMI). –
  5. Solbizz ~ Kwatt solution, IIT Bombay. –
  6. Suryamitra.
  7. Skill Council for green jobs. –
  8. Global sustainable energy solution India. –
  9. Steinbeis solar research center. –
  10. Gujarat Institute of solar energy. (GISE). –
  11. National renewable energy laboratory.
  12. The International renewable energy agency. (IRENA) –
  13. World Institute of sustainable energy. (WISE) –
  14. Skill development programs on solar technology by MSME & KVIC..

Solar cooking potential in India07BGP_SHIRDI__1150165f

A ‘solar cooker‘ is a device which uses the energy of direct sunlight to heat, cook or pasteurize food or drink.

Solar cooking is a form of outdoor cooking and is often used in situations where minimal fuel consumption is important, or the danger of accidental fires is high, and the health and environmental consequences of alternatives are severe.

Now a days many non-profit organizations NGO are promoting their use worldwide in order to help reduce fuel costs (especially where monetary reciprocity is low) and air pollution, and to slow down the deforestation and desertification caused by gathering firewood for cooking.

Many exist, including curved concentrator solar cookers, solar ovens, and panel cookers, among others.

The 1 of the best example is Shirdi Sai temple, which draws thousands of devotees everyday, has a solar cooking system installed at its canteen. Around 70 solar reflectors are mounted on the rooftop & other is solar parabolic concentrated systems in Ladakh for Indian Army.

We need your support to find the Solar cooking potential in India.

Please fill this form and share in your contacts.

SUNPEDAL ~ ‘Ride To Raise Solar Awareness in India.

sunpedalSUNPEDAL ~ ‘Ride To Raise Solar Awareness in India.

The Solar Bicycle will be a great example to showcase the application and potential of solar energy and the ride is to unite and educate people over a cause which will dominate the future energy needs.

About Sunpedal Ride :-

It’s a historical ride of 2 IITians ~ Mr. Sushil Reddy(alumnus) and Mr.  Rajendra Bhaskar(student) from Energy Science Department of IIT Bombay.  Its a journey of 79 days, 7513 kms on the solar electric bicycle including more than 25 solar awareness sessions.

The solar electric bicycle contain 240 watts of solar panels on a trailer attached to the bicycle. 250 watt pear hub motor, 48v lithium Ion battery. The average speed on flats is 20 kms/hr. Average 25 kms on a single charge.

About Route  :-
  •  The route was chosen and planned considering maximum sunshine, favourable terrain, weather and safety for cyclists.
  • A support team helped in planning the route & often be stopped by onlookers who wondered what he was doing.

During solar awareness sessions just explaining the benefits wasn’t enough, thought Sushil, who then would explain a financial model so others could install a solar panel at home. “I would talk about a financial model – Build-Operate-Transfer — which can be adopted by a common man to generate solar energy. The monthly electricity bills go down once one opts for solar panels.

Would you like to get in touch with sunpedal team,
